Ray Lybarger came to New Orleans to write a simple article on Mardi Gras and the picturesque tourist destination’s colorful history, but the Crescent City had other plans for him. Beneath its vibrant celebrations and centuries-old traditions, a darker world lurks, one of secrets that are better left buried.
